Super Real Darwin (スーパーリアルダーウィン) is a shoot 'em up game developed by Data East and released in 1987 for Arcades. It was ported in 1990 for the Sega Mega Drive under the title Darwin 4081.

Story[]

Is the only path left for an extremely developed civilization on a planet the path of destruction?

The planet Lakya, located in the sanctuary of one tooth in the universe, hundreds of millions of light years away from Earth, is home to the most advanced civilization on a cosmic scale. No, it may be more correct now to say that it existed... In Lakya, EVOL, an intelligent body with high intelligence built the highest civilization. EVOL lost his own body as a compensation for having that high intelligence. Therefore, they needed a "body" that they could transfer to...

EVOL left Lakya in search of its own "body" and discovered the planet Cokyo while drifting in outer space. They started an invasion to make it the second Lakya. However, the plan of EVOL to transfer to the life form Shlohe of Cokyo has caused an unexpected situation. This is because Shlohe, to which EVOL has been transferred, continues to resist fiercely, causing the "bodies" that have lost their control to antagonize each other, and a fierce, destructive mutual slaughter played out. The Shlohe that EVOL transferred to showed a mysterious change. It was like "evolution" developing into a mighty figure, and at other times it was like a creepy creature...

I wonder if the only way forward for a civilization that has developed so much is the path of destruction...

Gameplay[]

Super Real Darwin is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up. It plays much like its predecessor Darwin 4078, featuring the same evolutionary system. Much like before the ship continuously evolve by picking up the EVOL capsules dropped from enemies; this game also adds a new type of EVOL called Black EVOL, which causes mutations into different forms, as well as special EVOL capsules dropped from bosses and certain ground enemies.
