Shootout (シュートアウト) is a shooting game developed by Data East and released in 1985 for arcades.
Overview[]
In Shootout the player controls a vigilante character who is chasing down the boss of a mob gang. The camera is set behind the player, who can move horizontally, crouch, and aim on five directions (forward, diagonally and to the sides), with the first button shooting and the second button executing a dodge roll. The player can avoid enemy fire by using the dodge roll or hiding behind buildings and objects in the scene.
Stages are comprised of a single screen scene, with enemies coming from inside and behind the buildings as well as on the player's sides. Enemies include thugs and mobsters, as well as unique enemies specific to the current stage. In addition to enemies the player must also avoid hazards such as falling objects and rolling barrels and avoid shooting down innocent civilians. The player can shoot specific objects in the scenarios for extra points.
