Gameplay[]

Makai Hakkenden Shada is an action-RPG with very similar gameplay to Ys: Ancient Ys Vanished. It utilizes the same "bump" combat system from Ys, where instead of attacking enemies the player must bump into them at an slight angle in order to cause damage. On towns the player can talk to NPCs and visit shops to buy items and equipment, including swords, armor, scrolls and herbs.

The player only controls Shin, with other major characters from the novel appearing throughout the game as supporting characters.
